Where you start
drifting, how much angle of drifting you make and how fast you can
carry the speed into drifting will be counted to the judgements. And,
they will need to keep drifting until Luffield entry, then flip the
car to the opposite drifting angle with keeping high speed. Luffield
is only a slow speed corner, however if you can nail on the throttle
pedal and make loud noise and massive smoke, it will bring them even
more judging points. And finally, in the best 16 heads-up eliminations,
this is called "Tsuisou", most of the teams are supposed
to go for dogfights without much tactics because none of them have
ever done tandem drifting on this track.
D1GP, the fastest growing event and the king of drifting events. If
you say you are a big fan of drifting, you don't want to miss this
first ever event in Europe ! .... [

Grand Prix 'Driver Search Europe' - 25th August 2005 - Silverstone
Circuit, England
The first ever D1 Grand Prix 'Driver Search Europe' went ahead today
at the world famous Silverstone Circuit in England. Silverstone Circuit
is renowned as the home of British Motorsport and this was a fitting
venue for our event. Driver Search's have been held regularly in Japan
and America over the past few years and the time has now come for
Europe to have it's opportunity.
The
Driver Search format is used by the D1 Corporation to assess driver's
abilities for entry into a full-on D1 event in there respective country
or region. The European event in question is the D1 Grand Prix Exhibition
on October 2nd 2005, which is also to be held at Silverstone Circuit,
where a minimum of 16 Japanese D1 Grand Prix Drivers will attend.
These Japanese drivers will not only put on an Exhibition event but
within this will give European drivers the chance to compete against
them. This is not only an honor for the European drivers but an opportunity
none of them want to miss.
Judging
is the key to a Driver Search and we were proud to have Mr. Ken Nomura
fly in from Japan as our judge for the day. Mr. Ken Nomura, who regularly
competes in D1 Grand Prix's in his Blitz Racing Nissan Skyline, used
his expertise at judging talented drivers to ensure the best were
picked to go up against the Japanese D1 Drivers.
A
total of 31 drivers competed in the Driver Search with entries from
England, Ireland, Norway, Holland and France. Spectators are not allowed
at a Driver Search but the Press and Media were invited. The weather
was kind to us in the morning with sun and scattered cloud and this
carried on until roughly 1.30 pm, when the weather deteriorated bring
us rain and wind. The drivers were not deterred by this, as drifting
is not just a sunshine event, and they carried on regardless of the
tricky conditions. At around 3pm the weather broke again and the sun
returned.
Drivers continued to run until Mr. Nomura had seen all drivers complete
numerous runs in the wet and the dry. The skill required on a drying
track is immense and the majority of the drivers coped very well.
At
around 5.00pm the drivers were all asked to return to the pit area,
park up and make there way to the briefing room where the results
would be given. A lot of tension was seen in the drivers faces as
through an interpreter Mr. Nomura gave out the results. Cheering and
clapping followed as the successful drivers names were read out. At
the end of the Driver Search 6 drivers are confirmed for the October
2nd event, names as follows :
